Today we honor the birth of Lord Hanuman (Hanuman Jayanti). Yet we need to remind ourselves what he would be doing today, given the plight of COVID in India.
In the Ramayana, when Ravana's son Indrajit (Meghanada) injures Lakshmana with a weapon, he is left to nearly die. The only solution at the time is for Lord Hanuman to fly all the way from Lanka to Mount Dronagiri (Mahodaya) or Gandhamardhan Hills (present day Uttarakhand) to retrieve Sanjeevani, a medicinal herb with immense power to cure. To avoid wasting time and since he could not identify the herb on the entire mountain, Lord Hanuman lifted the entire mountain and brought it with him.
This type of Hanuman-like effort is required of us to help our families and friends in India, as the cases and deaths caused by COVID has taken a drastic turn to the worst.
Just as Sewa International USA came to our help during the fires and the beginning of COVID, they are coming to the aid of those in need in India.
NBHC wishes you all good health on this Hanuman Jayanti (Chaitra Shukla Purnima). May we achieve a healthy outcome from COVID just as Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani plant to heal Lakshmana. Our prayers remain with all affected, especially those struggling in India.
